(Ira Levin did… he called it “Stepford Wives.”)
We all have something… for me it’s age spots. And wrinkles. And bulging forehead veins. And REALLY ugly feet. And grey hair. Lots of it.
And I earned EVERY ONE of those grey hairs. And I'm proud of them! And the age spots? Well, I don't love them. But they're me. 51-year-old me. And I like 51-year-old me.
I cringe when I see people so young they have no wrinkles or age spots-- feeling the need to filterize their faces... or use botox to make already flawless faces even more flawless...

I went from being married to the love of my life, with 2 step kids, a dog, a baby, and a big house on the golf course...
...to moving back home with my mom, driving a borrowed minivan, being told "it's cold out, you might want to bring a jacket"... and starting a brand new "career" path working minimum wage a photo booth in the mall.

I'm guessing they're not the JCPenney Portraits... with the perfect outfits, perfect poses, and perfect smiles. Nor are they the flawless selfies... with artificial filters and fake sparkles.
They're most likely the ones that show Spark. PERSONALITY. Individual DIFFERENCES.
(Mine is a photo of the time my mom made us (in our teenage years) climb a tree with our musical instruments-- and NOT cool ones: a flute, a violin and a keyboard-- IN PUBLIC... and actually play... IN PUBLIC... right after she chewed me out for forgetting my sheet music. Ooo. The humiliation and rage in that photo. And it sure was DIFFERENT from any photo the "cool" kids had!)
I've got news for you. Yes, you're different. And quirky. You have flaws that make you cringe. And that's what makes you AWESOME.
Because they're you, and you're beautiful.
